Lake
Lake Hylia is Hyrule's biggest piece of still water, and there's a particular kind of traveller who just wants to sit beside it for a while. Ruined structures rise out of the deep water here and there, remnants of something grander than what's left. Bring a reason to be patient and you'll enjoy this stop more than you expect.

Before you pack
Read these before you take the pack.
- Conditions
- Calm in general, though the lake makes its own weather — mist off the water in the morning, sudden squalls in the afternoon. Warmer than the surrounding highlands thanks to all that water holding onto the day's heat.
- Hazards
- The water hides more than it shows. Lizalfos and the odd Octorok work the shallows and will happily startle anyone wading without looking first. The old ruins offshore look climbable. Most of them are not, at least not safely.
- Useful finds
- Fish here are as good as anywhere in Hyrule — hearty bass especially. The grassy banks produce hylian shrooms and, if you're very lucky and very quiet, the occasional silent princess. I leave those where they grow.

Route notes
The lakeside road is easy and well-travelled; stick to it rather than cutting across the shoreline, which is softer and slower than it looks. Lakeside Stable is a sensible place to stop before continuing on toward the wetlands or the plains.
Merchant story
I once spent an entire afternoon here doing nothing useful at all — no foraging, no selling, just watching the light change on the water — and called it a scouting trip when anyone asked. Pip did not believe me for a second and has brought it up regularly ever since. Worth it.
