Field notes from Sor
What the merchant can tell you about travelling here.
Overview
Hebra is Hyrule's proper winter — real mountains, real snow, real cold that doesn't forgive poor preparation. Beautiful in the way that dangerous things often are. I don't send anyone up here without a serious conversation first.
Conditions
Genuinely cold, not the pretend kind. Blizzards roll through with little warning and visibility can drop to almost nothing. Cold resistance gear or food is not optional here — it's the whole difference between a good trip and a bad one.
Hazards
The cold itself is the main hazard, full stop. Beyond that, ice-slick footing near the peaks and a few hardy creatures who like the weather far more than any sensible traveller should. Frostbite is a slower, quieter danger than any monster up here.
Useful finds
Cold-hardy plants that don't grow anywhere warmer, and a particular kind of quiet that's worth the trip on its own if the weather's behaving. Practical foraging is limited — this is a region you pass through prepared, not one you live off of.
Route notes
Do not attempt this without cold resistance sorted first — elixir, warm clothing, or ideally both. Check conditions at the nearest stable before committing, and turn back the moment visibility drops. No destination up here is worth losing the trail over.
Merchant story
I once underestimated how fast the weather turns up here and spent a genuinely uncomfortable night learning why every Hebra-bound traveller gets the long safety lecture from me now. Pip, being Pip, thought the whole ordeal was a marvellous adventure and still brings it up fondly.
